H. Carroll Cash has a graduate degree in History and Psychology, and a Masters Degree in Theology.
His work career includes Senior Vice President of a large US Bank, Project Manager for a US Department
of Defence Contractor functioning as a Financial Analyst, Technical Writer and Trainer. He has used his
training in Psychology as a counselor on the staff of the South Carolina State Mental Hospital, several
community alcohol and drug abuse programs, and as a marriage and family counselor. In his retirement years
Carroll is currently Pastor of a Methodist Church. Carroll and his wife, Helen, are also professional
speakers who conduct educational and motivational presentations to business and industry. He is an active
member of Toastmasters International where he leads workshops on effective communication skills and leadership
empowerment. He works as a volunteer coordinator for the Educational Foundation for Foreign Exchange, and he
and Helen have hosted 23 high school foreign exchange students from around Europe to add to a family of three
children and six grandchildren. They have also traveled extensively in Europe and Scandinavia. Carroll is
actively involved in the political parties of his county and in the State of South Carolina, and is currently
Chairman of the Incorporation Committee that is leading a community of 2500 people in the process of becoming
an Incorporated Municipality. When time allows, he plays golf and tennis, enjoys travel, gardening, reading,
and computer.
Brief Course Outline
Step 1: These sessions will teach and develop the skills necessary for effective communication and leadership.
The individual who speaks powerfully motivates and leads others to action. During this part of the program,
participants will learn the skills of (1) effective impromptu speaking, (2) developing powerful speeches and
presentations, and (3) listening, evaluating, and giving positive feedback to others. Leaders will provide
instruction in speech preparation and speaking techniques. During the course, participants will develop and make
two presentations and will give feedback to other speakers.
Step 2: We will explore and teach the US Political System and how it works locally to enable communities to organize
and form an Incorporated Municipality (Town or City). This will outline actions with South Carolina state agencies,
the State Legislature and other local governing bodies. We will also take a look at the 2004 Presidential election
process and issues.
